Tweet. Follow. Retweet. Kind of like: Shampoo. Rinse. Repeat. For those of us in our 40s, we remember those directions from the bottle of "Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific!" Not so much for the health of our hair, but because we wanted our hair to smell terrific - and it worked. That scent could be picked up from a 50-foot radius. And as I've learned, that's pretty much the same concept with Tweeting: follow a specific set of directions, and hopefully, your social media radius will reach far and wide. I recently dove into the world of Twitter, and I have to admit, I'm still trying to manueuver my way through - initally, I felt like I was in the abyss. Now, I feel like I'm in a maze and I keep running into corners - thankfully, with all of the information you can find on Twitter, I manage to work my out out and get further through the maze. What I've learned in a short period of time:
1. Set a timer - you can absolutely lose yourself!
2. Twitter is not just for promoting your business - as a matter of fact, that is secondary to information exchange, networking and supplying your community (mine is a very small village in a very small remote country right now) with information that is interesting and helpful.
3. This is a GREAT research tool!
4. Shampoo. Rinse. Repeat. is a much less involved process and upkeep. But your hair will smell Terrific!
What advice can you give to those of us new to this social media world? Share your stories!
